Setting up VitalSource External Links to Textbook Materials in D2L

  • Follow the steps below to link VitalSource  textbook materials in your D2L course.

  1. Within the D2L Brightspace course, navigate to the Content tool.

  2. Select a module into which the Tool will be placed. If no such module exists, please create a
    new module called “Direct Digital Course Materials” into which to place the Tool.

  4. Click VitalSource.

  5. Search for the textbook and choose the appropriate items.

  6. Click Create and Insert to add the link to your module.

Insert a Deeplink to a VitalSource Resource (Optional)

  1. Within the D2L Brightspace course, navigate to the Content tool.

  2. Select a module into which the Tool will be placed. If no such module exists, please create a
    new module called “Direct Digital Course Materials” into which to place the Tool.

  3. Within a content module, click Existing Activities > VitalSource.

  4. Follow the instructions in the dialog window to select a book, page, or other resource.

  5. Click Create and Insert to add the deeplink.

Note: Do not paste a direct VitalSource URL unless instructed. Always use the External Learning Tool or deeplink option to ensure proper authentication and access.
