Holiday Greetings to our SPC Colleagues!

As the semester winds down, the IT & IR projects ramp up! While we hope to have all our projects done before faculty and students return, we will prioritize classroom, semester start and security tasks first. Please see the list below for our Spring Semester Readiness tasks, the impact, and potential downtime or end-user impacts. As always, please contact the Service Desk if you have questions.

Perform security and operating system audits and updates

  • Update computer labs to 25H2 (requires extended reboot time); need to schedule communication to employees
  • Update Ivanti Security Control to Ivanti Neurons for improved computer patching
  • Updating startup and shutdown scripts on student devices
  • Ensure all devices are maintained with consistent software patch levels

10 Specialized Software Location Review 12/22 - 1/7 Service Desk Audit specialized software locations to ensure the correct software is installed in the correct location for the start of the semester Started
11 Security Certs (SSL) Updates 12/24 & 12/26 Network Team Security cert updates on all servers, including PaperCut (12/26). Requires restarting services. Expected downtime per server/services ~ 30 seconds. PaperCut may be longer. Scheduled

15 RedShelf --> VitalSource Conversion (D2L) Completed Service Desk VitalSource has been implemented, and instructors/faculty need to update their D2L courses to point to VitalSource if they were using RedShelf. Completed
