How do Tool Vouchers work?

If you would like to use Federal Financial aid in the purchase of tools for one of the following courses:

  1. Machine Tool
  2. Automotive Technician

Visit the Tuition Office to obtain a tool voucher.  The tool voucher allows the tool vendor to bill Saint Paul College for the tools so they may be applied to your financial aid.

You must have enough Financial Aid after tuition, fees and books to cover the cost of the tools.  If you do not you must arrange for payment on your own with the tool vendor for the purchase of your required tools.

Once you receive a tool voucher, provide it to the tool vendor you are working with. Vendors are normally located in the lower level of the College by your program area.  The vendor will then verify the amount that may be purchased using Financial Aid.  The vendor will provide you with a copy of your purchase on the tool voucher and will submit a copy to the tuition office.  The vendor must include sales tax on your voucher.  If they do not Saint Paul College will add it as a charge onto your account.  All charges will be added to your account before the third week of the term so Financial Aid can cover the tool charges.

If you have a third-party vendor covering the cost of your tools, please verify with them the amount they will cover or if there are limitations.  A third-party authorization form must be on file with the Tuition Office before we may provide a tool voucher.

If you are wishing to use a payment plan to cover your tools you must set this up before a tool voucher will be issued.
