IT Town Hall News - September 2026
9/18/2026
Greetings and welcome to the fall semester! While we've been in classes for several weeks, connecting with you this way feels refreshing.
In IT, we've been busy with security updates and fall semester planning. We've been putting out technical fires and have updated the service portal: services.saintpaul.edu.
From an overall technical security perspective, we continue to roll out updates to the computer and print servers. Several major initiatives from the system office will affect how students log in to Saint Paul College computers and other local resources. There will be changes to how some employees log in to specialized applications with MFA, as well as to how we use the MFA authenticator. Most of these changes will come toward the end of the semester, and we'll communicate them and their impacts months before implementation.
The User Services team, led by Vicky Shine, has been handling requests and tech issues, closing most within 2 business days. We continue to improve our service catalog and forms, including a new Application and Access Request form and a Shared Mailbox and Distribution List Request form. Your feedback has helped us make impactful changes to our services.
One new feature we rolled out this semester is our IT touch board, which includes links to the most commonly asked IT questions and to campus resources. The two touch boards are currently located by the ATM on the first floor and by the mural in the learning commons. We’ve been collecting great metrics. For example, Tuesday has the most clicks overall, with most occurring at 12 PM. Campus Map, Eduroam Instructions, and Bank Mobile are the top three requests/clicks.

We have about 100 laptop loaners remaining for students and have been able to support employee onboarding laptop requests. Next week, we will welcome Chevell Payne as our new Service Desk Operations Lead.
Data Services and Institutional Analytics, led by Tabatha Ries-Miller, has been busy reviewing previous processes and procedures and working closely with Deans and other stakeholders to improve data and IR requests. We are working to fill two IR positions and hope to do so by the end of the calendar year.
The Network team continues to make security and infrastructure updates to strengthen our security posture, starting with server updates. Some of the work will require downtime. We will use the service portal at services.saintpaul.edu to post the updates.
We are excited about what the upcoming year will hold for us. We continue to take your suggestions and input and apply them when and where applicable. Thank you for a great start to the semester, and let's have a great year. Now back to Austin.
