Subject: INFO: T14 & T16 Laptop Update

Greetings!

I can’t believe there are only two weeks until the start of the semester. I am excited on so many levels! We have one week to prepare the computer labs, move our monitors from staging areas in classrooms and CNC areas, and support new loaner and employee onboarding processes. When I look back at where we were during the last week of the spring semester and today, I am wonderfully surprised at all the behind-the-scenes work that we all did to prepare for the fall semester.

I received word that the new laptops are shipping out to SPC this week, with the exact delivery date TBD. With that said, I am proposing the following:

  • We will deliver your new monitor(s) – docking station monitor and secondary monitor – to your on-campus office/workspace. Currently, your monitors are sitting in the CNC classroom or room 2115, and we need to start clearing those spaces for teaching.
  • If you are not currently on campus, prioritize setting up your new monitors now (time permitting) before you return to campus.
  • If you are on campus and have not already notified me, we will attempt to install monitors within the next several weeks. We will do our best to notify you ahead of time.

With your new laptops, we will provide several options to swap the Dell for the new Lenovo. Depending on your comfort level with technology, here’s what we are offering:

  • Department-based/group-guided swap – We’ll have a room with several technicians and up to 10 new computer recipients to walk through the new device deployment. Using a deployment guide, you’ll walk through the sign-in process and log into all the applications you need.
  • One-to-One swap – We’ll schedule time to meet, either in your office or 1470, to sign into your applications.

NOTE: We have until 10/10/2025 to swap the laptops. After we swap your laptops, we will hold onto the old devices for two weeks before we send them to our vendor for recycling.

With both options, we’ll ensure that your new college-provided device is configured with your required software, printer(s), and functions on our college's wired and WIFI network.

Finally, please refer to the updated hardware, software, and specialized software standards identified in the Service Portal – Technology Updates.

Thank you for your cooperation and efforts in making this transition as smooth as possible. Let's gear up for an exciting and successful semester ahead!
