The recent printer project implementation occurred Tuesday to Thursday, August 5th to 7th. The primary objective of this project was to replace the entire copier and printer fleet at Saint Paul College.
To achieve this, we:
- Standardized the number of printer models from 47 down to just 7, which should help streamline our operations significantly.
- Replaced all the old and no-longer-under-warranty equipment, some of which were 10-15 years old. This upgrade was crucial in ensuring that our equipment is reliable and up-to-date.
- Sought to find efficiencies wherever possible by consolidating and replacing outdated equipment with new, high-efficiency, and high-quality technology. By doing so, we aim to enhance our overall productivity and reduce any potential downtime.
- Simplified the printer queue names to make it easier for everyone to identify and use the printers.
I'm excited to share that we have successfully installed 89 out of the 111 new printers! We encounter the need to make several adjustments along the way, and we're currently following up on the WIFI dongles for several of our printers. To ensure security and reliability, we will not replace these printers until we have a secure and acceptable solution.
During the week of August 11, we will remove the printers that were previously identified and slated for removal or replacement. Additionally, I'm working closely with our vendor to provide us with documentation on the minor changes to the BIZHUB (Multi-Function copiers) touch panel displays. Once we receive these documents, they will be made available on our Technology Services Portal at https://services.saintpaul.edu. This email will be included in the Technology Updates section of the Service Portal.
Thank you again for your support and cooperation regarding the printer project. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated!

Greetings!
We have completed Day 2 of the printer project, and installations are progressing. We encountered a minor issue with our wireless printers because we had requested that they have built-in wireless adapters, but they were shipped with wireless dongles instead. Unfortunately, we have a history of these wireless dongles being stolen, so out of an abundance of caution, we will not replace 22 printers until they are correctly configured. A copier in ADR was shipped without a Fax kit, and that will be delivered and installed at a later date.
We will place signs near/next to the printers and copiers that identify the devices by their old and new names, as well as label the devices.
The KM Multi-Function Copiers have a slightly different touch panel interface. I will share the instructions, screenshots, and updates on our Technology Services Portal (https://services.saintpaul.edu) and update the links in our Employee Technology Resources knowledge article.
I appreciate your support with the printers and copiers!
Thank you!
