Over the weekend, IT completed a WIFI upgrade to address several errors we were experiencing with wireless connectivity - unable to connect to the internet using Eduroam, SPCWAD.
The upgrade is completed, and the impact on end-user & college-owned devices should be minimal. Users may need to either 1) Restart their computers or 2) Reconnect to the SSID to reconnect to WIFI.
Use SPCWAD if you are an employee using a college-owned/college-provided device that is not on a docking station. Docked laptops should use the wired ethernet connection.
Use Eduroam if you connecting a personal device to WIFI and have an active StarID. On a personal laptop, connect using your StarID@go.minnstate.edu and your StarID password (student); StarID@minnstate.edu and your StarID password (employee).
To connect a mobile device to Eduroam, IT suggests going to the App Store for your Apple iOS device or Play Store for your Android device and downloading the Eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT).
- When prompted for "Search for your Organization", type Minnesota and choose "Minnesota State Colleges and Universities".
- Agree to the Terms of Use.
- At the Login Required prompt, type your Minnstate credentials (StarID@go.minnstate.edu - student; StarID@minnstate.edu - employee; and then your StarID password.
- Press Log in.
- Press Save.
Now, your mobile device is connected to Eduroam.
